A stretch of the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu shut down Wednesday morning after a man allegedly assaulted a deputy during a traffic stop and got into a standoff with officers.Authorities said deputies were still trying to get the man to cooperate just after 6 a.m., more than four hours after they first approached him, as officers were seen standing just outside a patrol vehicle — all facing towards a white van parked on the side of the freeway and surrounded by debris.
, deputies learned the man has a no-bail warrant out for his arrest, sheriff's officials said. He refused to comply when they tried taking him into custody, according to sheriff's officials, and then allegedly assaulted one of the officers with a fire extinguisher. LASD officials also described him as being 'destructive.'As of 5 a.m., a 2-mile stretch of the PCH, running between Heathercliff Road and Busch Drive, was closed due to the police response.Around 5:45 a.m.
