Chef Peter Hemsley told Eater SF that the closure was partly due to the impacts of operating a business amid the pandemic. He added that while the pandemic offered new ways of working and perspective, it wasn’t enough to keep Palette afloat. Palette opened in 2019 as an immersive dining destination that launched as a part fine dining restaurant, part gallery, and part ceramic studio. With an emphasis on creativity, customers were dazzled by imaginative plating and occasional art exhibits., Palette’s present home at 816 Folsom St. was meant to be temporary, while Hemsley and his team waited to move to 155 12th St.
