Jake Cronenworth exited Monday's game with a tight calf; the Padres call up Matthew Batten and option Brett Sullivan to Triple-A El Paso
A day after exiting with a tight calf, Jake Cronenworth is out of the lineup for Game 2 of the Padres’ three-game set at Milwaukee. The team has not placed Cronenworth on the injured list, opting instead to swap out Brett Sullivan for Matt Batten and give Tuesday’s start at first base to Jurickson Profar. Profar played five games at first base last year for the Padres and has 70 career games there.
465 with three homers and 14 RBIs to start a rebound season, one that should be even better than it is. Cronenworth, after all, ranks in the 94th percentile in expected batting average based on the quality of contact and in the 92nd percentile in expected slugging and expected weighted on-base average . As athletic a defender as you’ll find at first base, Cronenworth also ranks in the 94th percentile in expected fielding run value. The start for Azocar is just his third this season.
