Jurickson Profar in right field, Eguy Rosario at third base as Padres play final game in Houston on Sunday

Tatis has been in the starting lineup every game since sitting July 16 in Philadelphia with an ankle sprain and has started 122 of the teams’ 123 games since returning from his suspension on April 20.

It’s been a struggle at times, too, as Tatis peaked in June with a .911 OPS only to see those numbers slip to .732 in July, .674 in August and .677 in the first eight games of September.Sunday is Machado’s first full day off since returning from a broken bone in his hand on June 2. Machado had a .713 OPS in June and a 1.092 OPS in July before seeing that number drop to .695 over his last 36 games.

Profar went 3-for-4 with a double, a homer and two RBIs while playing first base on Saturday, his first game in the majors since Aug. 25. Profar will be in right field for the first time since playing 29 games there for the Padres in 2021.He was expected to compete for a bench job this spring but fractured his ankle in winter ball. He was hitting .265/.348/.422 with five homers and 28 RBIs in 43 games at Triple-A El Paso.
