Left knee takes brunt of collision with wall but Juan Soto remains in game; Michael Wacha throwing, improving each day as he eyes Friday return to Padres rotation

“It’s just one of those things where it can get kind of pissed off and irritated,” he said, “and sometimes you have to take a breather and get it right.”was optioned back to Triple-A El Paso to make room for the addition ofThe 26-year-old knuckleballer was not expecting a long stay in the majors as a one-off fill-in during Wacha’s absence.

Waldron yielded two home runs on Saturday on 92 mph fastballs. He threw only two knuckleballs over the first three innings before throwing 11 over his final 1 2/3 frames, none of them squared up as he mixed it in more against left-handed hitters
