One of the easiest ways of recycling your computer’s old Solid State Drive following an upgrade is to put place it in an SSD enclosure so you’ve got yourself an external drive for backing up your Mac or PC. Many of the enclosures on the market top out at speeds of 1,000MB/s but what do you do if you have a faster SSD you want to use?
The Orico 40Gbps M.2 NVMe enclosure can handle M.2 format SSDs in sizes of 2230/2242/2260/2280 with capacities up to a maximum of 8TB. The enclosure provides a theoretical write speed of 3,500MB/s and a read speed of 2,500MB/s, which is around three times faster than most regular SSD enclosures with a USB 3.2 interface.
To cope with the levels of heat from an SSD, the Orico enclosure has a built-in fan that sucks out any heat as it builds up. To efficiently conduct heat from the SSD’s memory chips, the enclosure also comes with a silicone thermal pad and heatsink that wick away heat from the chips. The enclosure’s aluminum casing also helps to dissipate any general heat build-up.
