“After watching the Obamas last night, that was some epic fire, wasn’t it? Some epic fire,” Winfrey said at the beginning of her speech. “We’re now so fired up we can’t wait to leave here and do something. And what are gonna do is elect Kamala Harris as the next president of the United States.”
Winfrey remains one of the most popular American public figures whose influence stretches across race, gender, and identity. During the 2008 election, Winfrey endorsed former President Barack Obama, a move that allegedly delivered one million votes to his groundbreaking campaign. “Soon and very soon, we’re going to be teaching our daughters and sons about how this child with an Indian mother and a Jamaican father, two idealistic, energetic immigrants, immigrants, how this child grew up to be the 47th president of the United States,” Oprah said.
