A House committee is expected to approve a parental bill of rights Tuesday over objections from opponents who aren't getting to testify.
would require all of Ohio's public schools to notify parents before teaching any"sexuality content," which it defined"as any oral or written instruction, presentation, image, or description of sexual concepts or gender ideology."
"We feel like the bill has had a lot of hearings," Rep. Adam Bird, R-New Richmond, said."There’s not a sub-bill here. It’s an amendment that was only a couple of pages. The committee, if I’m being honest with you, they want to favorably report this." The letter, along with a joint statement in opposition to HB 8, was rejected by the committee because it was sent one minute after the 3 p.m. deadline for testimony.
He thinks the scheduled committee vote on HB 8 should be delayed until lawmakers hear from the public.
