One person is dead following a serious crash on Interstate 15 in Nephi on Oct. 29, 2023. One person was killed and five others were injured after a car was rear-ended on I-15 in Nephi.

Two vehicles were involved in the crash on southbound I-15 near milepost 227 just before 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to Utah Highway Patrol. They said the area was an active construction zone and a previous crash had caused traffic to back up. There were reportedly four occupants in the vehicle that was rear-ended — three of them had mild to extremely critical injuries, and one suffered fatal injuries. Their identity was not initially released.Southbound I-15 was closed at milepost 228 while they investigated. Traffic was diverted to State Route 28.
