Olympic champions Michael Phelps and Allison Schmitt are set to testify before a House hearing Tuesday on Capitol Hill, focusing on doping concerns at the upcoming Paris Olympics .'There are deeply rooted systemic problems,' Phelps said in his written statement.He further pointed out issues with the world's top anti-doping regulator that prove detrimental to the integrity of international sports.
Despite this, the World Anti-Doping Agency cleared these athletes to compete.The agency chose not to intervene after Chinese officials claimed the positive tests were the result of contamination.The 30-member Chinese swim team, which included athletes who tested positive, won six medals in Tokyo, including three golds.Many of these athletes are expected to compete in Paris this summer.
