Wednesday offered a glimpse into Ohio State 's quarterback competition this spring, even if it was against air. Kansas State transfer Will Howard and redshirt sophomore Devin Brown are the top two candidates battling to be the Buckeyes' starting signal caller this fall. The duo served as quarterbacks for Ohio State 's pro day , where a collection of wide receivers and tight ends tried to impress NFL scouts.
Howard enters from the Wildcats with more than 5,700 career passing yards and 48 touchdowns with 25 interceptions across 34 games. He completed 61.3% of his passes for 2,643 yards and 24 touchdowns with 10 picks in 2023. Brown lost a quarterback battle with Kyle McCord to be the Buckeyes' starter last season. In limited action, he went 16-of-28 passing for 217 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He added 23 rushing yards and one score on the ground.
