The Ohio State Highway Patrol has released data from an OVI checkpoint conducted Friday in conjunction with the Scioto County Sheriff's Office.
Troopers conducted the checkpoint on SR-73 in Washington Township on Friday between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
A total of 241 vehicles were checked at the checkpoint. One vehicle was diverted, and Troopers arrested the driver for OVI Saturation patrols were also on hand to intercept drivers under the influence. These patrols made 13 traffic stops and arrested three drivers. Of the three arrested by the saturation patrols, two were arrested for OVI, while the third was arrested for felony drug possession.
The checkpoints are funded with federal grants with the goal to both combat impaired driving and help raise awareness of the problems caused by it.
