Ohio State football was having more red zone success at Purdue en route to a 20-0 halftime lead.

Through one half, progress was apparent in Ross-Ade Stadium. Ohio State turned three of four red zone trips in touchdowns — and missed on the other by an eyelash — to build a 20-0 lead.Ohio State football’s leading rusher will not play at Purdue

McCord drove the offense back into the red zone on the next possession. But on third-and-1 at the 13, he yielded to Devin Brown. The backup promptly followed his blocking around the left end for 8 yards, then plunged in from 2 yards out for the first rushing touchdown by a Buckeye quarterback since 2020.

Those four possessions raised OSU’s red zone touchdown percentage to 57.14%. Not where the Buckeyes want to but, but headed in the right direction.
