The assassination attempt against former President Trump inflamed emotions across the political spectrum.
President Biden says "we can't, we must not go down" the road of political violence in America after attempted Trump assassination.Some Republicans blamed Democrats who had called the former president a threat to democracy. Some Democrats countered with this starting from the January 6 insurrection and accused Trump of stirring up violence with previous rhetoric.
Triantafilou was in Milwaukee helping the GOP prepare for the Republican National Convention that kicks off Monday. He said that Trump can sometimes be an unconventional politician but Democrats have accused Trump of wanting to end democracy. But while Triantafilou said the party is resolved to support their candidate after Saturday's tragedy, this is about getting votes and not stirring up any more violence.
Gwen McFarlin is chair of the Hamilton County Democratic Party and Local 12 asked her: “Chair McFarlin, how do we tone down the rhetoric that's coming out from both sides after the violence yesterday?”
