Democratic lawmakers in Ohio have called on Governor Mike DeWine to provide a comprehensive public report on the economic damage allegedly caused by Senator JD Vance and former President Donald Trump .

On Friday, Democratic House leader Allison Russo of Upper Arlington and Reps. Willis Blackshear of Dayton and Adam Miller of Columbus sent a letter to DeWine, urging his office to collaborate with state agencies and the city of Springfield to evaluate the economic harm in the region and determine the financial burden on Ohio taxpayers.

"The spread of these fabrications led to state and local taxpayer resources being mobilized to address the tensions and the challenges that followed," Russo wrote. "It is concerning that Ohioans will have to bear the financial and social costs of addressing the disruptions caused by these baseless claims.

"I applaud the leadership displayed by Gov. DeWine as well as Springfield’s and Clark County’s elected officials during this difficult time," said Blackshear. "Instead of fear-mongering with conspiracy theories and chasing political headlines, they have debunked myths and led efforts to help protect and rebuild our community."

Blackshear added, "The majority of Ohioans are concerned about building a future of economic growth and prosperity, where all legal residents and citizens can work hard and get ahead."ABC 6 News has reached out to DeWine's office for a comment and will update this story.
