Some Southern California Edison customers living in high-risk fire areas may have their power turned off amid a Red Flag Warning.

Officials are warning thousands of residents across Southern California that they could have their power shut off in order to prevent electrical equipment from sparking wildfires during severe weather .Santa Ana winds will batter much of the region Tuesday and linger into mid-week, combining with low humidity to create dangerous wildfire conditions.

The Santa Ana winds could bring gusts up to 80 mph to parts of the region, prompting a "Particularly Dangerous Situation" Fire Weather Warning for much of the Santa Ana wind corridor of Los Angeles and Ventura counties through Wednesday.NOAA's Storm Prediction Center is forecasting "extreme" fire weather conditions for Tuesday in places like Santa Clarita, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Moorpark, and Santa Paula along the Southern California coast.
