Officials seize 1,250 pounds of illegal fish off South Texas coast

The U.S. Coast Guard, Texas Parks & Wildlife and federal border officials took part in the Gulf of Mexico operation that led to the detention of 19 Mexicans.

Federal and state officials intercepted four Mexican boat crews and seized over 1,250 pounds of illegally caught red snapper off the South Texas coast. Earlier this month, the U.S. Coast Guard air crews, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Texas Parks & Wildlife Department located 19 Mexican fishermen aboard lanchas in waters subject to U.S. law enforcement, according to news releases from the U.S. Coast Guard and the Texas state agency.
