Oaks Christian libero Hannah Brady appeared calm, even though her team was headed to a fifth set against Sierra Canyon, the reigning CIF Southern Section Division 1 girls volleyball champion.
Brady’s older sister, Maya, was named Pac-12 Softball Player of the Year after hitting .456 for UCLA in the 2023 season. Their mom, Maureen Brady, was an All-American pitcher at Fresno State and their uncle, Tom Brady, is a seven-time Super Bowl champion. She’s now in her third year of varsity volleyball with the Lions, diving and chasing down balls with the scrappy competitiveness she developed as a kid, when she was kicking soccer balls around and trying to score goals against her family.
Maya and Maureen are easy to spot in the crowd while cheering for Hannah, who can hear them yelling her nicknames of “HB” and “Hannie.”
