The Brooklyn subway station shooting involving the NYPD happened at Sutter Avenue. Here's the latest on the investigation.
NYPD brass said the alleged fare-beater had charged at the officers with a knife and made verbal threats against their lives; he was last said to be in critical condition, along with one of the bystanders— injuring an accused fare-beater, two bystanders and an NYPD officer — the department put out a request seeking the public's help to find the knife the suspect allegedly held before cops opened fire Sunday.
Police opened fire around 3 p.m. during a confrontation with a man officials claim avoided paying the subway fare by slipping through an open door. He had run upstairs to the platform and refused officers' orders to comply, Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey said."At a certain point on the platform, the male mutters the words 'I’m gonna kill you if you don’t stop following me.' The officers are able to catch up to him.
The police department confirmed multiple bystanders were shot, along with a suspect and responding officer.
