Mayor Eric Adams says he's 'best' person to fix Rikers Island

A frustrated city lawmaker on Wednesday called to reopen a long-shuttered federal immigration outpost at Rikers Island , while slamming the mayor for his flip on the city’s “sanctuary city” status.

Wife of UnitedHealthcare CEO says her husband had been receiving 'some threats' prior to fatal shooting “My position is people who commit crimes in our city, you have abdicated your right to be in our city and I am open to figure out the best way to address that,” he said Tuesday. “Those who are here committing crimes, robberies shooting at police officers, raping innocent people, have been a harm to our country.”Migrant Bernardo Raul Castro Mata is charged with shooting two NYPD cops — part of a crime wave that rattled the city.

And last month, Holden wrote to Hochul, state legislative leaders and Adams to again express concern over a sanctuary city designation that “put New Yorkers in harm’s way.
