A new trailer for Robert Eggers' Nosferatu, a new horror movie remake starring Bill Skarsgård’s and Willem Dafoe, has been released.

Nosferatu is an upcoming remake of the 1922 German film of the same name. Directed by Eggers, the gothic horror movie will be released in United States theaters this coming December.“Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake,” the synopsis reads.

Eggers is known for directing 2015’s The Witch, 2019’s The Lighthouse, and 2022’s The Northman. Eggers also wrote the screenplay for his new Nosferatu movie. The original Nosferatu is a silent film that starred Max Schreck as Count Orlok. The film is an unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker’s 1897 Dracula movie. While the film made several significant changes from the novel, Stoker’s heirs sued production company Prana Film over the unofficial adaptation. A court ruling ordered all copies of Nosferatu to be destroyed; however, several copies survived and the film is now considered to be an influential cinema classic.

Dafoe notably played Schreck in 2000’s Shadow of the Vampire, which was directed by E. Elias Merhige and told the story of the making of the 1922 film. Dafoe was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance.Brandon Schreur has been writing about comics, movies, television shows, and all things pop culture for roughly five years. He's a lifelong cinephile who spends way, way too much money buying Blu-rays and trade paperbacks.
