BEACHWOOD, Ohio - Drivers are already hitting the roadways this holiday week -- 71 million expected -- and there’s good news for Ohio drivers. Prices at the pump are falling and are below the $3.06 national average , which is down 21 cents from last year,“Slightly, yeah,” laughs Christina LaMarca, who teaches Yoga on Chagrin Boulevard. “It was like $3.17, now it’s like $2.99 so it’s going down.
“I noticed it seems kinda down to me right now,” said Charisse Bradley, of Cleveland. “I don’t think two-ninety-nine is bad in gas prices.”“You’d have to go back to the height of the pandemic,” said Patrick De Haan, Chief Petroleum Analyst at GasBuddy.com. “Back to Thanksgiving twenty-twenty was the last time we’ve seen gas prices this low.”
“That’s gonna give folks a little more money in their pocket for those holiday ingredients,” said Doug Shupe, AAA Spokesperson, “and of course for those Black Friday shopping deals.”“I go where it’s convenient for me,” said Sally Levine, who works in Beachwood. “Up or down a penny doesn’t really matter to me, I really just go around where it’s convenient.”“The fact that most stations are at two-ninety-nine or lower price,” said De Hann.
Gas Buddy says gas prices should stay a little less than three dollars for a while, at least through the winter holidays. And not filling up doesn’t seem like much of an option to many drivers.Increased competition with new gas companies coming into the market like Wawa, Buc-ees, and Sheetz as well as lower taxes than neighboring states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Indiana, has helped Ohio drivers pay less at the pump.
