North Texas groups raising money to combat child hunger.

McKinney resident James Huang unloads peanut butter with help from 12-year-olds Betty Lou and Vivian Zhou, both of Allen, during a collection drive to battle hunger.The Richardson Interfaith Alliance, Compassionate DFW and the East Plano Islamic Center are aiming to raise $35,000 to combat child hunger, organizers said in an email announcement.

Money will be raised online and through the Compassionate DFW Hunger Project 2022 on Sunday, Sept. 11, from noon to 5 p.m. at the East Plano Islamic Center, 4700 14th St., Plano. The money will be donated to local food banks and food pantries to help feed hungry families in Richardson and Plano.A donation of $17.50 will provide 50 meals and $35 will cover 100 meals, although any donation amount is appreciated, organizers said.or via mail to Compassionate DFW, P.O. Box 836764, Richardson, TX 75083-6764, with a notation in the memo line of “FCE”.
