A North Carolina man has been arrested for allegedly setting a woman on fire. The victim suffered severe burns and is hospitalized.
A North Carolina man, Jami Raiziah Griffin, 23, was arrested after allegedly setting a 20-year-old woman, Ashanti Downey, on fire. The incident occurred on December 16th in Sanford near Barbecue Church Road. Downey suffered third-degree burns on her right side and was hospitalized. Griffin faces charges of felony attempted murder, felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and misdemeanor assault on a female.
The Harnett County Sheriff's Office is investigating the case, which they believe may be domestic related. Downey's mother, Donecia Davis, is supporting her daughter and a fundraiser has been set up to help with medical expenses
