The rebuilding Nets are all about the future now, and they will sports their two most-recent first-round picks on their Summer League roster.
The Nets had no picks in this year’s NBA Draft, but 2023 first-rounders Noah Clowney and Dariq Whitehead will be with them in Las Vegas when the summertime slate kicks off on July 12 against the Pacers.The Nets will play five games in Sin City, four that already are scheduled and the one to be determined based on their pool-play performance.
Clowney, the 21st overall selection last year out of Alabama, appeared in 23 games for the Nets as a rookie.In seven April contests, Clowney put up 12.1 points and 6.3 boards over 29.3 minutes per game. He posted the first double-double of his NBA career with a season-best 22 points and 10 rebounds in a win over the Pacers on April 3.
Whitehead, the 22nd overall pick in 2023 after one season at Duke, made only two appearances for the Nets as a rookie due to left-shin surgery in January.The rest of the 13-man Summer League roster for the Nets will be: Jalen Wilson, Keon Johnson, Zylan Cheatham, Tyrese Martin, David Muoka, Jacob Gilyard, Jaylen Martin, Mark Armstrong, KJ Jones II, Khalid Moore and Tevian Jones.
