Northside Methodist entered the final period of Monday’s game up 45-44 after Reid Roberts hit 1-of-2 throws in the final second of the third quarter. The Patriots sliced the gap to three as Jackson Bowen hit 1-of-2 free throws and Keck scored off a layup and converted it into a three-point play with a free throw.
Jackson Mitchell kept the Patriots alive, drilling a 3-pointer off the right wing with 29.3 seconds left, but Kirchhoff, who scored 11 of his game-high 27 points in the fourth quarter, hit two free throws with 27.7 seconds left to extend the margin back to seven. The Patriots, who fell to 8-14, were led by Mitchell with 17 points and Keck with 11. Bowen added seven points.
