Nicolas Cage's new Dracula movie sounds like it'll deliver on the horror goods 👀 Renfield has officially been rated R for 'bloody violence, some gore, language throughout and some drug use' 😱😎
The upcoming Universal horror-comedy film Renfield, starring Nicolas Cage as notorious vampire Dracula, has been given an R-rating ahead of its April 2023 release. Emmy-winning comedic performer and Mad Max: Fury Road actor Nicholas Hoult is set to star opposite Cage as Dracula's love-stricken henchman, Renfield.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY According to the Classification and Rating Administration, Renfield has been given an R-rating by the Motion Picture Association of America for its adult material. The film-rating association cited Renfield's bloody violence, gore, explicit language, and occasional drug use as the film's content that warrants the audience restriction.
Cage recently revealed that his early conversations with Renfield director Chris McKay about the style of the film painted a particular picture for the kind of performance he was going to give. The Lego Batman Movie director's vision strayed from some of the classic renditions, shifting toward a pop-art style with strong colors and an Andy Warhol-inspired aesthetic.
Nicolas Cage's absence from the public eye has already come to an end, thanks to his award-winning performance in Pig and his critically acclaimed portrayal of himself in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Renfield will be Cage's next big-screen appearance and his first live-action film with a major studio since Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance in 2011.
