The Class of 2025 nominees include 15 players and coaches from the SEC.
Alabama running back Mark Ingram and coach Nick Saban hold the Heisman Trophy after Ingram won the award on Dec. 12, 2009, in New York City. won the BCS national championship in 2009 with Nick Saban on the sideline and Mark Ingram in the backfield. On Monday, the National Football Foundation released its ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025, and Saban and Ingram make their debuts as candidates together.
Saban coached 11 teams that won the SEC Championship Game – in 2001 and 2003 at LSU and 2009, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2023 at Alabama. To be considered for the College Football Hall of Fame today, a player must have been a first-team All-American selection by one of the organizations that the NCAA uses to compile its annual consensus All-American team.
The FBS nominees are sorted geographically for eight District Screening Committees. The committee members vote on which players will represent their region on the ballot. Players who received significant support in the final voting in the previous year but did not make the College Football Hall of Fame also are held over on the ballot automatically.
