A newly signed linebacker for the Miami Dolphins shockingly has called it quits.
Veteran linebacker Shaquil Barrett has shockingly announced his retirement from the NFL. Despite signing with the Miami Dolphins earlier this offseason, Barrett has made the decision to step away from football. NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN broke the news on social media.Barrett's decision to call it quits comes as a massive surprise as the Dolphins had been preparing for him to be a key piece to their defense this season.
'I've been thinking about this for a while and the decision has never been more clear then it is right now.'He has put together a solid career following going undrafted in 2014. After the draft, Barrett received interest from the Denver Broncos before joining them on a three-year deal. He didn't play in his first season but did appear in 16 games the following year. In his rookie season, Barrett posted 50 total tackles and 5.5 sacks.
