The video was shot by a remote-operated vehicle about 100 meters below the surface of the ocean in Hawaii.
SAN DIEGO — A new video shot by a remote operated vehicle is giving us a never-before-seen glimpse of our oceans at twilight. It could give us valuable info on the implications of climate change and how to protect our oceans.
“It’s the biggest living space on Earth,” Yoerger added. “At first, I was talking with our media relations people and they were like ‘Oh we got these pictures of rare animals.’ I said no, no, no these animals are not rare. We rarely get to see them. That’s the point. These are, in fact, the most numerous, abundant animals on the face of the Earth.”
There’s also ongoing exploration on the impact of increased carbon in our oceans, which has an effect on ocean acidity, and what types of plants and marine animals are able to survive and reproduce amid those changes.
