) - It’s been two years in the making, but the First Baptist Church in Fairhope is getting ready to introduce a major upgrade in the form of a new steeple.“Thank you, Lord, for getting us to this point. We’re so excited. The steeple is significant because it points us to the heavens. It points us to the Lord. On top of that steeple is the cross that points us to Jesus Christ. There’s meaning behind the symbol. It’s important for our community and for our church family.
Initially, Rev. Shaw believed that repairs would be made to the old steeple after the storm. However, the city intervened after initial contractors discovered more structural damage.“That’s what we thought the project would be, but then it kinda morphed into something more than that. Once we had to adapt to the new wind codes. So that changed everything. We were beginning to wonder if it was ever going to take place quite honestly. But obviously, we’re here today so it is,” Rev. Shaw said.
