SAN ANTONIO - Bexar County has begun negotiations with the San Antonio Missions for a new stadium. On Tuesday, Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai released a 'leter '
The San Antonio Missions celebrate after beating Corpus Christi 8-1 Sunday in the deciding Game 5 of the Texas League South Division Series Sunday night at Whataburger Field. On Tuesday, Bexar County Commissioners gave a unanimous green light authorizing Judge Peter Sakai to negotiate and execute a letter of intent for the county’s participation in construction of a stadium.
Dubbed the San Pedro Creek Park District Project, Judge Sakai released the statement as a demonstration of the progress of negotiations between the organization and Bexar County. The letter did stress that the county has not agreed to any financial commitments, but is open to supporting the project. The Missions released a statement a short time later, voicing their satisfaction that the county is willing to work with them to keep them in San Antonio.
The Missions are encouraged that the county has taken this step to show its intent to help negotiate a plan to keep the Missions in our community. We will, of course, be ready to present the plan publicly when and if it is agreed upon.
