New Jersey judge who told alleged rape victim to 'close your legs' is 'remorseful,' lawyer says.
A New Jersey judge who told a woman who said she was raped that she could"close your legs" to prevent such an assault is"remorseful," his lawyer told a state disciplinary committee Tuesday.
"Do you know how to stop somebody from having intercourse with you," Russo asked the woman, according to the"Block your body parts," Russo supplied."Close your legs? Call the police? Did you do any of those things?" The panel recommended Russo be suspended for three months. The Supreme Court justices before whom Russo appeared Tuesday are trying to determine how to discipline the judge.
