New homeowners were shocked to find human remains inside a home that had just been burned to the ground. Police in Harris County say the owners were cleaning their home to re-sell it Saturday when they found rib bones and a skull under some debris.
The men were cleaning up the home after a previous house fire and are thought to have been there when the fire occurred. 'It appears that the house was uh fully engulfed when the fire occurred and there, when they were in there cleaning the house out the last couple of days, uh There was a lot of debris that was on top of the skeletal remains,” said Sergeant Bem Beall with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. “And then based on the information that the uh renter was seen leaving the scene about two hours before the fire. Uh, They had no reason to believe that the house was occupied.
The medical examiner's office was at the scene collecting the remains and is working to determine the person's identity and cause of death.
