The vote will now be added to the council’s agenda for Sept. 12 and the office of the city attorney will continue to take written public input until Sept. 5 at 5 p.m.
As a council, we want to make sure that we get this right,” said Councilor Darrell O’ Quinn, chair of the city’s transportation committee. “It’s not a trivial process. It’s a lot of us putting extensive effort into making these changes and a lot of public input.
“Even though I have wanted us to get here for several years, there’s no rush to get something in place for the sake of making a change,” he said. “We want to make sure if we’re going to make a change that we get it right to the best of our ability.” The decision to delay the vote followed the city’s second public hearing where people could air their concerns about towing practices downtown and other “last-minute feedback” O’ Quinn said officials had gotten over the weekend.
