Carnell Sledge and Katherine Brown were killed in broad daylight at Rocky River Reservation
Kate Brown, 33, and Carnell Sledge, 40, died June 4, 2019 after being shot in the Cleveland Metroparks' Rocky River Reservation. The double homicide remains unsolved.“Unsolved Mysteries,” Netflix’s documentary series reboot of the popular ’80s and ’90s television series, will cover the 2019 murders of 40-year-old Carnell “Nell” Sledge and 33-year-old Katherine “Kate” Brown,. Their murder is also featured in the series’ trailer.
The victims’ families went to the park to continue to spread awareness about the case ahead of the Netflix premiere.“We want to raise awareness and let people know that we’re not giving up our fight for justice for Kate and Carnell,” Lauren Rao, the sister of Kate Brown, told WKYC. Rao, among others, passed out yard signs, flyers and business cards at the bench where Brown and Sledge’s bodies were found, according to WKYC.At the time, Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner Thomas Gilson said Sledge died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head and that Brown died from a single gunshot wound. Investigators noted the longtime friends were shot between 5:08 and 5:15 p.m. Kayakers found them less than five minutes later, WKYC reported.
