13News reporter Chase Houle talks with neighbors in the English Avenue area who say they are happy to see 'Club Paradise' close.
"That would be terrifying for them to return to their normal operations," said Matthew Gallagher, who lives nearby."Each time there's a shooting across the street, I have to check my animals, check the house, make sure the neighbors are safe," Gallagher said.He said during one of those shootings, a bullet came flying through his window while another got lodged in his front porch.
"It's a scary situation to have a bullet come through your living room window, and to think it could have easily been when my cat was sitting there or my dog. It could have been my bedroom window. I could've been sitting on the couch at the time. I would have been in the line of fire," Gallagher said.A manager with Club Paradise didn't want to comment, but told 13News Club Paradise is no more.
At first, 13News' Chase Houle tried calling and didn't get an answer. So he showed up at their office to find out their future plans, but the door was locked. That's when he called a second time and a woman answered. She told Houle the owner wasn't available and — when he asked for an email — she told him they didn't have one and no comment.
And while it may be unclear what the property owner plans to do with the building, one thing is for sure, neighbors want to have a say so in what comes next. 13News did reach out to councilmen Andy Nielsen, who represents the district, for comment about a future business coming into the area. 13News had not heard back at the time this article was published.Man pleads guilty in death of fiancée whose remains were found in Indiana
