Former NBA stars Dwyane Wade, Dirk Nowitzki, Pau Gasol and Tony Parker have each been elected to this year’s HOF class, along with former WNBA star Becky Hammon and longtime NBA coach Gregg Popovich.
The news of this year’s HOF Class of 2023 will formally be announced this Saturday, April 1, at the NCAA men’s basketball Final Four in Houston.
Nowitzki, originally from Germany, spent his entire 21-year NBA career with the Dallas Mavericks, where he was a 14-time All-Star and helped lead the team to win the NBA Championship in 2011. He ranks sixth among all-time leading scorers in NBA history. Parker, originally from France, played 18 NBA seasons, including 17 with the San Antonio Spurs. The six-time All-Star helped lead the Spurs to four NBA Championships under the guidance of Popovich, who was also elected to this year’s HOF class.
Popovich, with connections to both Parker and Hammon, is the all-time winningest coach in NBA history, compiling a career record of 1,363-757 , all as head coach the Spurs, a position he began in 1996. Popovich, who still coaches the Spurs, has won five championships during his nearly three-decade tenure with the organization.
