N.J. school closings, schedule changes due to winter storm Thursday

New Jersey schools have started to announce schedule changes for a winter storm expected to hit the state with a wintry mix Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022.

of snow, ice, sleet, heavy rain and gusty winds to New Jersey on Thursday and into Friday morning has led some school districts to make schedule changes for Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022.

The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories for Sussex and Warren counties, running from noon Thursday to midnight Friday. Winter weather advisories will also be active in western Passaic County from 1 p.m. Thursday until 1 a.m. Friday, and in Camden, Gloucester, northwest Burlington and Salem counties, from 5 a.m to noon on Thursday.

A wind advisory will be active in Atlantic and Cape May counties from 6 p.m. Thursday to 4 a.m. Friday, and in Monmouth, Ocean and southeastern Burlington counties from 9 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday.is calling for 1 to 2 inches of snow in northwestern New Jersey with the potential for up to 3 inches in some spots. The timing could make for some tricky driving conditions.
