His car was traveling at a speed of more than 110 mph about five seconds before the crash, officials said.
Ahmadsabir Ashaq, 20, of Edison, was sentenced to five years, with an additional three years of supervised release, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement on Tuesday. He pleaded guilty to second-degree vehicular homicide in March.
After the impact, Ashaq‘s car struck a utility pole and caught on fire, while the other car caught on fire due to serious damage sustained, officials said.
