It's so empowering that, as a woman, I can do my bit to not only save the planet, but also make my periods more comfortable and affordable.

I first heard about the menstrual cup three years ago from a friend that couldn’t stop raving about them. I was sceptical at first and was absolutely terrified at the thought of putting a small suction cup inside my vagina, but who wouldn’t be? I finally gave in and bought one., women in the UK alone use an average of 11,000 disposable menstrual products during their reproductive lifetime, which results in more than 200,000 tonnes of sanitary waste in landfills that take centuries to biodegrade.

If you do choose to use a menstrual cup, it's vital to change it regularly and sterilise it between each use and always make sure you read the manufacturer's information leaflet carefully.I got my menstrual cup in 2021 during the coronavirus lockdown in the UK. It was something new to try and explore during the long days of being stuck in the house. When my menstrual cup arrived, I’m not going to lie, I stared in awe at it for a while and then started to play around with it.
