Now, Kendrick's recovery is empowering his mother, Bianca Griffin, to speak out against domestic violence and child abuse.
Their story was highlighted at a gathering in East Columbus, organized by community partners to raise awareness about these issues. Bianca Griffin expressed gratitude for the journey they have been on, saying, "It's been a journey but I thank God we here and I'm able to have my sixth annual to bring awareness, only the strong survive."
"We've had far too many deaths, this year, homicides specifically that come from domestic situations," said Sgt. James Fuqua of the Columbus Police Department. "Anytime we can participate in public-facing community events and bringing more awareness and social justice to causes like this."
