The upcoming Korean drama 'Motel California' has released its first stills, offering a glimpse into the lives of its intriguing characters. The drama centers around Ji Gang Hui, a woman who returns to her hometown motel after 12 years and reconnects with her childhood friend and first love, Cheon Yeon Su.
Based on Shim Yoon Seo’s 2019 novel “Home, Bitter Home,” “ Motel California ” is a romance drama about a woman named Ji Gang Hui, who was born and raised in a rural motel called Motel California . After escaping her hometown, she returns home after 12 years and winds up reconnecting with her first love and childhood friend Cheon Yeon Su. The newly released stills showcase characters from both Gang Hui’s interior design company and her hometown.
Hwang Jeong Gu, the CEO of the interior design company, serves as a mentor to Gang Hui, who lacks a degree from a prestigious college or powerful connections. She helps Gang Hui showcase her abilities in a society that heavily favors employees from big conglomerates. A photo from the drama captures her elegant yet charismatic demeanor. Another still introduces Woo Mi Hwa, another supporter of Gang Hui who refuses to enter a marriage of convenience with her childhood friend Geum Seok Gyeong. A striking image of her in a wedding dress raises questions about whether she will eventually surrender to the marriage and how her story will unfold. Another still introduces Su Ji, Yeon Su’s playful and carefree mother, who continues to search for new love despite multiple failed marriages. Finally, we see Park Soo Jin, a designer and secretary in the director’s office. Unlike other characters, she harbors a dislike for Gang Hui, who comes from a completely different background, and creates conflict with her.
