Morena Baccarin jokes Ryan Reynolds won’t tell her if her character Vanessa will appear in Deadpool 3. Baccarin made her debut as Vanessa Carlysle, girlfriend to Wade Wilson, in 2016's Deadpool. She went on to reprise her role in the sequel, Deadpool 2, which saw her character killed off at the beginning of the film. However, Deadpool 2’s time-traveling, post-credits scene reversed Vanessa's death and gave her a second chance to appear in future installments.
As a pair of the highest-grossing R-rated films of all time, the Deadpool franchise amassed a $1.5 billion total for 20th Century Fox. Disney acquired Fox in 2019, bringing the Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Deadpool under the control of Marvel Studios. Given Reynolds’ inimitable performance and the franchise’s cultural impact, it came as no surprise when Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed Deadpool 3 was in the works.

I was like, 'Oh, that's cool!' ... I hope I get to be in it, I don't know. They're very, very annoyingly tight-lipped.
As mentioned by Baccarin, earlier this month it was announced Shawn Levy would reunite with Reynolds to direct Deadpool 3 with a script from Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin . Before the announcement, Levy, who also worked with Hugh Jackman on Real Steel, talked about his desire to direct Jackman and Reynolds in a film together.
The irreverent, fourth-wall-breaking nature of Deadpool will facilitate his MCU debut. In other words, it will surely be outright addressed and/or mocked in Deadpool 3. That said, Reynolds and company are likely focused on coming up with a story that utilizes the MCU leap. On top of now owning most Marvel characters, Marvel Studios’ ever-evolving multiverse can implement characters like Vanessa, Colossus , Cable , and Domino .
