Montgomery — in its 27th consecutive state tournament — also won second place two years ago with now-seniors Ceci Lococo and Gabbie Culver as the lone remaining members of that team returning.“I knew my game was on,” Lococo said. “The week before, we had a lot of rain. I didn’t practice for about six days. But I knew my game was on before that and I was hitting some good shots out there. I left a couple out there. But mostly I played good and it helped the team.
“It was very sad,” Lococo said. “But I really wanted it to end on a good note. I love him so much. He’s the best.” Herridge was there Tuesday to not only watch his granddaughter Jordyn, but to present Thomason to the crowd during the medal ceremony.
