In a sign of the times, a psychedelic company from Oakland was featured on the “Dr. Phil” daytime talk show.

Magic mushrooms are clearly becoming more mainstream: Daytime talk show host Dr. Phil recently aired an episode featuring mothers who use magic mushrooms — and it included a shoutout to an Oakland psilocybin lab.,” profiled two mothers who say using magic mushrooms has improved their mental health and made them better parents.
“I’m not as reactive,” said Tracey Tee, one of the women. “I think before I speak. I don’t get as upset. ... It just softens everything and allows me to be more present, more present with my family.” Psilocybin mushrooms, frequently called magic mushrooms, contain a compound that can cause hallucinations if taken at high enough doses. But the mothers featured on the show said they are taking weekly “microdoses” of the drug, which is a dose small enough that they never feel any kind of drug high. Thousands of peoplethat taking these mushroom microdoses improves mood and creativity, although microdosing has yet to be confirmed in rigorous clinical trials.
Show host Dr. Phil, whose legal name is Phil McGraw, questioned how the mothers could precisely control the effects of the mushrooms given that there are more than 100 known varieties of illegal psychedelic mushrooms. One of the women responded by saying that her mushrooms were tested by“I have a lab report so I know exactly how much psilocybin I am taking,” guest Ashley Ryan said.
