The Mobile County Sheriff's Office is building relationships with elementary school kids throughout the county and talking to them about the dangers of gangs through the G.R.E.A.T. program, which stands for Gang Resistance Education And Training. On Friday, students who graduated from the program got to celebrate at Municipal Park by getting hands-on experience with some of the equipment police officers use in the field.

Pounds, who is a juvenile detective, says building relationships with children is an important part of what they're doing in schools. The program lasts six weeks and is for 4th and 5th grade students. This school year he says they've gone into six different schools including Dodge, Indian Springs, Maryvale, Robbins, Dixon and Hall Elementary.
