The Mobile County Public School System is taking action to help homeless students and their families.

"That is children who lack a fixed, regular and adequate space,” said Riemer. “Can they go to the same place every night? Is it safe and sufficient? Does it have running water and power?” "What we're going to be able to do with that is a lot more outreach to those students that we've identified, and the parents and guardians of those students will be, you know, reaching out to them so that we can connect them with our community partners and also provide some tangible items for them,” said Riemer.

"Anything that we can provide so that the parent doesn't have to worry about those items, and they can, instead, make sure that their child has everything that they need to get to school, so they can do their homework, do whatever they need to do while they're in school, and get the services that they need,” she said.
