The city council on Tuesday rejected a deal that would have turned Boykin Park in Theodore into a residential subdivision.

Horton , the largest homebuilder in the country, but the Mobile City Council rejected the deal Tuesday. Boykin Park in Theodore could soon be sold, but the Mobile City Council decided Tuesday not to accept a deal with D.R. Horton for the 19-acre park.
“Although it’s not being used right now, that doesn’t mean we should throw it away or give it away,” Councilmember Ben Reynolds, who objected to the deal, said. “The taxpayer deserves better.”Alabama gave mayors an extra year in their term.
