Ronnie Wiggs, of Independence, Missouri, reportedly was overheard by medical staff at Centerpoint Medical Center saying “I did it, I killed her, I choked her.”
INDEPENDENCE, Missouri — A Missouri man is accused of strangling his ill wife to death in her hospital room, reportedly telling investigators he did it because he could not care for her anymore and he could no longer afford to pay her medical bills.
The charging document says police were called to the hospital in Independence late Friday night. A “code blue” had been called on the victim, who was in a room on the sixth floor, at about 10:30 p.m. Authorities say the woman was unresponsive and had no pulse.
